@Niall next time! I used mine for the rice this time, next time it'll be the other way around. I really need to get a second one.

@XauriEL I imagine it's not unlike working the monthly "we all just got our food stamps money" rush at a seafood market. In addition to knowing how much everything sells for, there are also differences in how you calculate the cost based on whether it qualifies for EBT payment or not.

@Yjeva room for 12 bikes if they all have wide handlebars sticking out across the slots on either side. -.-

@pezmico that was what I was thinking during the covid lockdowns where the govt passed all the money to employers who were then supposed to dole it out to the employees, instead of just giving money to people directly. Is it an NZ thing to do it that way?

@phil_stevens I hadn't. The recipe said to microwave them in a damp paper towel, but I guess that wasn't good enough. If they're dipped in the sauce first, that would make it messy to try to roll after wouldn't it?

2nd and 3rd forays into beans.

- Grab the nearest book.

- Find the 2nd sentence
- Post the sentence in a toot with the hashtag & write the rules as a comment to it
- Don't look for your favourite, coolest or wittiest book. Go for the closest.

First foray into beans. On the left is an attempt at vegan Cajun red beans and rice, but I put in too much celery and not enough beans. On the right is lentil ragout - the lentils were a bit more al dente than intended but still very good. Recipe links to be edited in shortly...

I'm #crowdfunding for a film via my website as I'm excluded from major platforms (I'm based on the wrong continent) I've developed it since 2018 and will shoot next year, but I have to figure out the vfx needed to envision this futuristic world with no capitalism, where direct democracy thrives […]

@janef0421 I remember the good old days when age was a continuum instead of even more "us vs them" categories to make us fight each other. Might be Gen X of me to think so.

(Seriously, this trend of identifying by generation name in casual daily conversation, is less than a decade old.)

@ai6yr That's what insurance was originally supposed to be for, for sure. But it isn't anymore because if you did have a catastrophic problem, insurance still will be trying to talk their way out of paying for it and will argue for as long as possible in the hopes that you'll die before they […]

@ai6yr At that point, it would be cheaper to put the money into a savings account and pay for health care directly instead of navigating insurance.
