In my mind, it focuses on characters from Joe and Colm’s generation, in like their twenties or thirties. Tries to be darker and grittier, and go into more depth about the origins of the Troubles, but also tries repeatedly (and clumsily) for moments of broad comedy

This seems as good a time as any to admit that, even though I know what Welcome to Derry actually is, my first assumption every time I hear it mentioned is that it will be an ill advised, tonally misjudged prequel to Derry Girls
