I will never forget the eyes of the kid I treated who died of measles and the tears of their parent. I wish it on nobody.
We crossed quite the tragic landmark on Measles cases in Ontario this week: 1000 cases in this outbreak. I thought my clinical experience 🌍 was unique & that I’d never have to see measles cases in Canada, where it was previously eliminated. Now this lethal childhood disease seems has a foothold.

Multiple people who have worked in #globalhealth have relayed variations of this story. These are people who see #measles routinely, and know how terrible in can be and that great lengths to get #vaccine for their chidren are worth it. With such easy access in Canada, I hope every child will get it.
I feel grateful every day for the scientific wonders like the measles vaccine and advanced health system we’re fortunate to have in 🇨🇦. When I’ve worked in an extremely resource challenged setting, parents would walk 4-days through the jungle just to get their kids vaccinated against measles.
