I just googled the avg age of an NHL player: 27; and the average retirement age: 28-30
When you look up peak years of NHL players it's 22-25
The cheapest players are 18-21 (I didn't google this but players are drafted at 18 and have 3-year ELCs)
The most expensive are 27+

Haven't read the article yet but the most memorably bad series for the Rangers for me was when the Islanders thrashed them in the '81 Semifinals #NYR

Sorry to be so negative, but while we might sneak out a playoff appearance this year and/or next, this Ranger team is careening towards 2003 levels. Lots of great names filling out a terrible roster.
