Super happy to have been involved with the great Jordi Paps & @martaalvarez.bsky.social in this project. Using genome-wide data, we show #Xenacoelomorpha to be the sister-group to the rest of Bilateria.

Very cool & relevant work. Sox & POU present in the unicellular ancestor or animals and choanoflagellate Sox proteins functionally replacing mammalian Sox2. Now the question is: what are those Sox and POU doing in those organisms?
