I have a deeply complicated relationship with Christianity-- not one, retain too many cultural hallmarks that that feels like cope, left for moral/political reasons, critical but think Sephiroth posting about Christianity is deeply embarassing-- but this is a great way of exposing why I'm not one.
In Opinion

The Trump administration “has offered a lot of general rhetoric about the value of Christianity to American civilization,” Ross Douthat says. “But in the absence of religious-informed policymaking, this sometimes feels more like a performance of a Christian politics than a full reality.”
Opinion | The Trump Administration Needs More Christianity in Its Nationalism
Not too much religious moralism in the administration, but too little.

I care about one game a year: seeing UVA lose to Virginia Tech. Losing to Duke is a decent second because it's funny.

I'll love my kids no matter the gender, because it'll be funny if I dress them up as the angry NYC trumpet guy either way

The widespread adoption of cooked makes everybody sound like they're trying to sound 16 and gives everybody the jolt of playing Cassandra without having to commit to anything embarrassing in case they're wrong. Not a fan.

I think most anti Tarantino is cope-- for the record I don't know how much I buy his historical turn as being anywhere as good as the crime movies because that's clearly the lens he sees everything in-- but this list blows

Underdiscussed thing about billy woods: he writes about sex the way a normal person has sex and it gives his work a lot of poignancy it wouldn't otherwise

It makes me violently angry-- which I am apparently want to do, as a crazy person-- just how we treat people in our day to days when they have an inconvenient mental health episode. Mental health is okay if you get a little sad or tired and need exactly one day off of work to fix it.

I really want to talk about the abuse and negligence of my former job but I actually find it keeps making me so upset that I can't.

Hey I'm genuinely in a panic. I don't know what to do. I can't find and get a new job by Friday. I really really need help
I need help.
After paying last month's rent, I'm broke and need to pay this month. I am still between jobs since RPL fired me (to union bust). I've been working as an election canvasser with a progressive organization, and freelancing but the election season is over.

bucks fans, he just hit you with the "nothing you can do about that." Mo Cheeks did the same to us. You gotta push this guy into a pit for your team and basketball
The upshot of Doc’s press conference: He doesn’t have the locker room, and he thinks it’s a player issue, not his.

He praised ATOs/sets, but when asked if he was surprised by the young Wizards, he said, “I wasn’t. But I’m not playing, so I can’t do anything about it.”

Yikes.

watching what's going on in Oklahoma is giving me a sinking feeling, because it's pretty apparent to me civil administrators don't want to take harassment seriously. they are completely happy to downgrade universities, public schools, and libraries to have an exhausted faculty that just accepts...

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?
