Viewpoint: Cultural context and family perspectives shape autism assessment and diagnosis.

Considering pluralism and prioritizing therapeutic support may improve outcomes, especially for mild presentations.

In March 2024 I posed the following: "The least our health leaders could do is call out that this is not all right and affirm the need for a permanent ceasefire. It is unfortunate that many of them won’t even say Gaza..." The call has yet to be answered.

Health care advocacy must include Gaza
The least our health leaders could do is say what is happening in Gaza is not alright and affirm the need for a permanent ceasefire.

At a time when there is so much discourse and rhetoric against disability, some thoughts here from a few months ago: www.thespec.com/opinion/cont...
Valuing disability and difference in society
Those sitting at the decision-making and policy tables are far removed from the day-to-day experience of children, youth and their families.

It seems that 20 months of witnessing the intentional killing of innocent children, men and women is what it took for some people to finally conclude that what is happening to Palestinians is wrong. Remember the saying that "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere".

I hope as a voter to see @liberalca.bsky.social and Mark Carney
recognize the clear needs to support some of Canada’s most vulnerable.
Child and youth health and mental health deserve recognition.
As does movement towards implementing the UN CRPD and designing policies with them that matter.

Hoping the outcome for #Canadians tomorrow moves us closer towards a brighter & peaceful world. It's been a very very dark time in all ways possible. As Martin Luther King Jr said: Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. This is true in Canada & globally #Elxn2025

My heart goes out to all Canadians, but particularly those in the Filipino Canadian community in light of the senseless and devastating event in Vancouver last night at the Lapu-Lapu Day festivities.

What should have been a euphoric celebration ended in unthinkable darkness.
