I was just telling a coworker today that this is the goal of school choice. Getting rid of the Dept. of Ed is a short road to segregated schools.

Repeat after me.

Eliminating the Department of Education will hurt public schools and the kids who need help the most, AND THAT IS THE POINT.

A student of mine has started reading this book. Today, she said, "This book is making me mad." I answered, "Good. You should be mad. You should definitely be mad." It was a little light of hope in an otherwise very dark week.

Looks like I'll be disassociating as soon as I get home to avoid the trash pile our country is right now. Should I pick a horror or romance book?

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we mourn the six million Jewish people and countless others who were murdered in the Holocaust by the forces of hate and bigotry.

Now more than ever, we cannot be silent in the face of evil. #NeverAgain

My guy, creating patriots sounds a whole lot like creating little soldiers that you can sacrifice to your Christian nationalism. But please, do go on about how teachers are the ones indoctrinating kids.
In reality, we just want them to be able to read and write 💔
Side note, this mentality is scary.
OK Schools Chief Ryan Walters says that public school teachers are the ones responsible for domestic terrorism. He says teachers have turned classrooms into “terrorist training camps” by indoctrinating students to “hate America.”

Thank you, everyone, for your "best of" book lists. My tbr has quadrupled, but I'm here for it. I'll need all those books to escape the reality that is America. Can't wait to read even more in 2025.

I hadn't even thought of this! I was already worrying about the impact on the future of my husband's job, but this is terrible!
Let’s be clear. Privatization of the post office will mean some addresses simply will not be covered because they are unprofitable. Think of it like our private healthcare system.

We’re cancelling the guilty part of guilty pleasures. Wanna read romance books and drink cheap wine? Valid. Watch the trashiest reality show and scroll through Amazon? I support this. Listen to the same early 2000s pop song a thousand times in a row? Why stop there? Find that joy and SQUEEZE.

This breaks my heart. I have many students whose families come from Mexico and other Hispanic countries. I worry for them. 💔
At parent conferences, I told a parent that her son has seemed extra tired in class lately.

She told me he’s been having trouble sleeping because he’s worried about his grandparents being deported.

This is where we are now.
