Good design is not easy - it requires taste and subtlety. AI doesn’t have that by itself.

Watching AI generate designs was fun, but none came close to that “designed by a human” feel.

It’s like slapping a 1999 PowerPoint theme on your slides and going “oh wow,” before realizing you’d never actually show it to anyone.

v0 and Same didn’t make the cut.

v0 did a fun Retro design, but I couldn’t get it to generate multiple variants no matter what I tried.

Same’s UI felt clunky. My site kept getting “shut down,” and I had to wait every time I came back.

@claudeai’s Claude Code felt completely different, but in a good way.

Everything ran locally on my machine, and it actually felt like collaborating with an AI designer.

Results were close to Figma & Lovable, maybe with a tad fewer details.

I had a lot of fun with @lovable_dev. It nailed the setup on the first try, and leaned in into each theme even more than Figma Make.

Sometimes too much.
