He/him. Wood carving, burning and turning. Still learning, excited to share the process.
I'm still recovering from surgery but the rosary project is back in swing

Having some setbacks, actually having some leg surgery soon. Good news is I found Michel Lauricella at the local library.

Been peeling out of hibernation mode. Toned paper has been nice for practicing my shapes and lines, when my woodburning practice has left me a little disappointed.
Here's a quick yard sketch I'm very pleased with and a cross-eyed owl... I'm sure my grandmother will love.

Just put in my annual wikipedia donation, have been for probably near a decade. I am using that site all the time to look trivia up, for a read, or for linked sources.

If Wikipedia charged a penny an article my donation still wouldn't hit it. I'm very grateful for that website.

In college I interviewed a sculptor who had done several pieces on campus, asked how he felt about pieces that got rubbed as "lucky" tokens.
Said he loved it, found it to be part of the history of a piece.
I know not everyone may share this opinion, but it makes me smile when I see a smooth spot.

Another small gift I'm making is a burnt ornament with my mother's workplace logo, with the full assumption it will be regifted to a coworker she knows little else about. Taking a random obligatory gift off her hands is my gift to her.

Do I feel guilty essentially making "practice pieces" out of gifts for grandparents to work on a technique? Kind of. But at the same time, I know they'll love it more than anything store bought.

New wood skills feel like such a cheat for Christmas gifts. They sell wooden crosses at dollar general. I can do wood burning now. Find an applicable verse to them. That's the grandparents all taken care of with loving homemade gifts for $1 and an hour. About what I would have gotten them anyways.

Looking at my feed on here I want to follow more, for lack of a better word, weird artists. Subject matter, style, materials, anything that's out of the ordinary. If that's you, comment, like, or just spread this along so I can find more. #weirdart #strangeart #avantgarde #art

Again, my favorite part of doing stuff with wood is jumping from project to project with wild abandon. Worked on all of these tonight.

While you were sleeping, South Korean President Looney Yoon was impeached and removed from office over his botched, short-lived martial law stunt.

Saw someone on here philosophizing about what it means to be an artist and struggling with that. Simple solution: just go out and make art. Don't overthink it.

Driving through and decided to see America's greatest prognosticating rodent. I assumed there was just a lineage of Phil's but the official lore is much more baffling and includes a magic elixir.

On a road trip today and finding myself marvelling at the logs on trucks. Odd to think of the little beauties we take for granted

Jesus Christ. Reorganizing the barn and didn't recognize this big plug on my surge protector. Could've killed everything in my dad's greenhouse

Kind of abandoned it but after Jimmy Buffet died for a while I was working adding a major star every time one passed to a Great Margaritaville in the Sky

Picked up Woodcarving magazine (UK issue 202) today because it was on a shelf and love this quote on a project by Peter Benson

I'm pretty sure the noise I'm hearing right now is the Barn Snake. Honestly my only fear is that it somehow is not.
