Big day for waiters who started off as haters
NYC Mayor Eric Adams says he is ending his reelection campaign.

Legal problems, a lack of funds and ties to Trump hampered his re-election bid.

Don’t be fooled by NYPD Commissioner Tisch’s cynical take: Bail reform is proven to protect and improve public safety.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch promised to strengthen discipline, embrace accountability, and ensure that officers who engage in misconduct face consequences.

But at the first opportunity to follow through on this promise, Tisch has let NYers down.

Five years after the repeal of 50a - the statute that concealed the disciplinary records of police officers - we are still fighting for true police transparency and accountability.

Join us next week for a panel on the impact of repealing 50a, and the road ahead. RSVP: nyclu.org/50a-panel

The CCRB and the Deputy Commissioner for Trials agree that NYPD Officer Rivera committed fireable misconduct when he shot and killed Allan Feliz. Now, NYPD Commissioner Tisch wants to override the decision to fire Rivera.

This is not justice. We call on Tisch to hold abusive officers to account.

We call on Commissioner Tisch to uphold the recommendation to fire Officer Rivera.

Anything less is unacceptable.
On 7/3 @nypdpc.bsky.social released a *preliminary* decision to FLIP the guilty verdict against Lt. Rivera for killing #AllanFeliz- after her own Deputy Commish said FIRE HIM. Tell Tisch and Mayor Adams this is unacceptable. Email them now! action.justicecommittee.org/a/fire-rivera

This is only the 2nd time that the Deputy Commissioner of Trials has agreed with a recommendation to fire an officer after a CCRB-prosecuted trial - the other was Daniel Pantaleo, who killed Eric Garner.

Tisch's planned rejection + override is a betrayal of NYers, especially Allan Feliz's family.

Arresting a public official for asking questions is dangerous intimidation and sends an unmistakably authoritarian message – that ICE doesn’t care about the rule of law, and that anyone exercising their right to challenge ICE and speak up for immigrants will be punished.

Mayor Adams is wearing his “in god we trust” American flag shirt once again. But this time it’s written in Italian. He says it’s Spanish to honor the victims of a nightclub roof collapse in the Dominican republic last week.

We must dismantle this unit and stop wasting resources on ineffective and harmful policing tactics

There's a secretive, and frequently abusive unit of the NYPD that's tight w/ Mayor Eric Adams

How tight? Well, the unit's leaders bought special body-cams that can live-stream footage to select users. Then they gave access to the mayor

For those who don't know this history, Cuomo personally empowered a breakaway Democratic caucus in the State Senate that called themselves IDC and voted for a Republican to lead the Senate even when Democrats held more seats. This blocked Democratic policy priorities for YEARS.
It's the second point where the most forgotten/most important quantum is the worst. He actively cut corrupt deals precisely to empower Republicans over Democrats. It took massive mobilization and strategy to break it. That is the VERY LAST thing we need to bring back right now. Look around you!!!
Hi, I would like a mayor who understands the current political moment & didn’t have a well known history as Governor of giving institutional control to Republicans preventing his own party’s agenda from being implemented. Also it would help if he didn’t harass women. Thanks.
