I don’t know how else to drive home the fact that a queer couple’s existence is not a threat to children any more than a straight couple’s existence is. I should know, because decades of being purposefully exposed to books, movies, shows, and church lessons promoting straight couples and heterosexual marriage didn’t “turn” me straight. It’s not indoctrination for children to read about people’s lives that are different from their own. Because they will meet a huge diversity of people over the course of their entire lives. The best gift a child can be given is the chance to learn about that diversity, and be taught to respect ALL people.
