Greater yellowlegs. I’m always torn on my opinion about our ability to name birds. We are either really great or really awful.

swainson’s hawk, and a crow in disbelief at my audacity in being tardy for dinner. (He’s a regular at work)

It may be my favourite crow photo to date. 🐦‍⬛

Alrighty my fellow bird nerds!

Months of patience paid off; after listening to the neighbourhood Merlins screech every dusk & dawn daily , one came in for a landing less than 15 feet from me.

Now, what do we think this menace is eating because it kinda looks like one of their own 👀

For the record it IS kind of a big deal as we are northwest of the core breeding area and these are a very rare sighting here. Manitoba doesn’t even make the map for their range.

No big deal, just me and a green heron, hangin’ out.

Who knew? Patience IS a virtue! I have been watching a pair of kestrels since late March/early April. I’ve watched them build a nest, I’ve seen them with prey in their talons and today I met their baby! #ExploreMB @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social #Kestrels #Raptors

What a gorgeous falcon bird 😉

Snapped a couple cedar waxwings today and was delighted to finally get a decent picture of the kestrel I’ve been staking out for months, complete with vole! Then an hour or so later he reappeared with what looks to be hairless chunks of vole lol

What a find IN TOWN this morning! Trumpeter Swan

Morning with a view. Note the funky glassware from Tupelo Honey (southern food from the Gods) in Indianapolis, the pin on my phone case gives me a giggle and then my small sanctuary in the backyard with the best flowers around 😉 💀 🦩 🧘‍♀️

My guy! My grackle friend with leucism is either back for a second season, or I’ve had 2, 2 years in a row.

This sweet little Robin was waiting very patiently for me to refill the front feeder this AM. Posed nice and pretty, too.

Hard to not get a good picture, Mother Nature did all the work!

Same night, different angle. It’s how I imagine mars looks

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it 1000 times; but there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING like a prairie sunset. 🌆

Snapped this show stopper at 9:14 PM tonight.

These 2 love birds share a tender moment & a week later I caught them engaged in some serious PDA (pigeon display of affection).

I see them for hours on end Mon-Fri & their interactions are quite adorable. They are monogamous and mate for life. Their downstairs neighbours are a pair of kestrels 👀
