A perfect album, and “Heaven” will get extra spins today … RIP Chris Rea
Just learned of the passing of Chris Rea. Really loved the guy. A very special talent. Got pretty much everything he released and talked extensively about his work (especially when I was on X). One album I forgot is Auberge, released in 1991. Superb record. Still a great listen. RIP.

Not all artists are geniuses or world-changers. Some just lighten up the load of living for others. Chris Rea did this for millions of people without ever cheating, with absolute honesty. This is a rare kind of dignity. RIP.

When 1989’s Road to Hell did well, his US record label thought he could be a huge star in America if he put the hours touring or appeared on MTV Unplugged; Chris Rea declined both. He didn't have much time for other rock stars, claiming the only one who didn’t disappoint him was David Gilmour.
Despite his knack for slick pop, the principled and passionate Chris Rea never took the easy road
The late musician bristled against his record companies, his producers and fame itself – but that friction ignited both his AOR hits and his raw, spirited take on the blues

Probably the artist I’ve played the most that my friends all go, “Say, who’s that?” and then nod approvingly. RIP #ChrisRea youtu.be/cHzrOnVxv3k?...
