Yorkshire lass now living in County Durham, UK, who loves dog walks, nature, The Archers, roses and gardening. 😊 Not here to talk about politics.
Long and much needed walk in Cassop Vale this afternoon. Peaceful countryside. A little snow lingering in the hollows.
Ideal de-stresser. 😊

Meant to say, thank you all for your kindness. And especially for the advice. xx
Thankfully mother now in specialist Elderly MH care unit for several weeks at least. Am sad it’s been allowed to reach this point; but I did my best to raise concerns and, because mother denied issues and accused me of fabrication/ exaggeration, nobody listened.
An experience to reflect upon.

Just heard loud creaking/grinding noise from somewhere in house. Sounded like roof beams grating or something. 😟 Mr M is away and I’m alone. Bit scared but have looked about and cannot see anything out of place.
House is only 18 months old. Could it be settling or something? 🫤

Hospital refusing to tell me where mother is, only that she’s been moved to a specialist facility. Aunts pressing for “someone in the family” (aunt-code for me) to deal with mother’s financial mess, Court of Protection application, house, bills and so on.
For abusive parent? Absolutely not!

I’ve taken your advice @chrisworthing.bsky.social and @aspatrian.bsky.social - thank you. Have refused to pay the bill and have refused any involvement in fostering or future care. I feel guilty and upset about it; but under the circumstances it’s the only thing I could do. xx

Have deleted my previous post due to the attention it was attracting from people who have no idea of the circumstances. I wish there was some way to make Blue Sky accounts private. I haven’t the resilience to cope with strangers quote-posting in order to criticise a situation they don’t understand.

Hoping to learn more about the long history of my adoptive city. 😊 A little surprised to find how few books cover the history of Co Durham as a whole.

50 seconds of peaceful river Tees flowing through Forest-in-Teesdale below High Force waterfall. xx #natureclips

And here’s a clip of High Force waterfall. The sound is pretty tremendous up close, especially as magnified by the rocky gorge. #Teesdale

Had another lovely trip into #Teesdale this afternoon. High Force waterfall was living up to its name. 😊

Well, we did go for a 2nd wander round the Durham Lumière Festival tonight. This time we stuck to the quieter, non-ticketed areas. The city centre was much busier than on Thursday. Nice atmosphere though. Lots of families out enjoying themselves.
I so wish things were different with my own family.

Been on the phone a lot today with mother stuff. She’s been sectioned now, with my sister as NR thank goodness; but there’s no MH bed for her available yet, so she’s on a general ward in limbo. 😔
Mr M wants us to go out to Lumière again as it’s the last night of the last ever festival. I don’t know.

A quick dog walk after work. Very wild seas at #Seaham today.

Would anyone like 2 Adult tickets for Lumière this evening? 5pm-6pm entry. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to return them and I don’t want them going to waste. xx

After stress of past 48 hours, had decided against going to Lumière tonight. But Mr M persuaded me to change my mind. He said it would do me good to be distracted from the worry about mother. So we went & saw part of the festival.
A gentle walk around beautiful Durham was indeed a comfort. 😊

Thanks to kind friends on here, I’ve nominated someone else to be the ‘nearest relative’ for mother’s sectioning. I’m still upset at what I was put through by the hospital, who insisted I had a legal obligation to do it and didn’t tell me I could nominate someone else. But relieved to be rid of it.
November 13, 2025 at 10:19 PM
An upsetting scene this morning. Hospital insisted on my being the ‘nearest relative’ and having the decision-making powers in law which that entails. I refused as unwell myself and insisting on an abused daughter being legally responsible for the abuser is unacceptable. Explaining was triggering.

Mother is being sectioned under the MH act.
So the hospital says. But going on past experience, they might change their minds and send her home tomorrow 😔

Mother back in hospital after 3rd fall at home since July.
Every time they discharge her, she cancels her ‘care package’ the moment she gets home, and a few weeks later repeats the cycle. My sister won’t hear of a court of protection application & blocks my attempts to get her into safer housing.😔

@angieandwesties.bsky.social Was wondering how you’re doing? Are you able to walk your westies now? xx

It’s only a year since we came to live in North East England, so I don’t know whether it’s unusual to have the late summer garden flowers still going in mid-November?
It’s nice to retain a bit of summer colour in the garden, but rather unexpected! xx #gardening
