Yorkshire lass now living in County Durham, UK, who loves dog walks, nature, The Archers, roses and gardening. 😊 Not here to talk about politics.
So colourful, and at a time of year when we need more colour. 😊

I think they’re both pretty, tbh. I’ve seen a lot worse being sold for ridiculous money in garden centres. Your wonky one has a bit of extra character, that’s all. 😉

Nearly there. xx

It looks very nice, Angie. I’m glad you’re pleased with it.

It did, thanks. It was good to get out in the fresh air. It’s also the final Lumière Festival to be held in Durham, due to the rising cost so, as there won’t be any more opportunities, I’m grateful we saw a little of it. xx

Thanks Jess. We saw only a small part, walked from the Marketplace up to the Cathedral and down to Prebends Bridge, that’s all. We stopped briefly on the Bridge to look at the river. I didn’t know it had actually flooded, but I’m not surprised to hear it, because it did look *very* full! xx

I hope so too. From all I’ve heard about them, secure mental hospitals are potentially quite grim places, caring for some very disturbed/ unwell people. So I don’t know whether mother’s time in such a place would be very beneficial. But perhaps they won’t send her somewhere like that.
November 13, 2025 at 11:26 PM
That’s a good idea. I will. xx
November 13, 2025 at 11:22 PM
Thanks - I feel very relieved now. xx

The hospital staff member who rang me insisted. Told me it was a legal requirement and that I had to do it. Some harried overworked admin person I suppose, so I’m reluctant to blame. But very very poorly trained.

I agree wholeheartedly. And I don’t think it would’ve been in mother’s best interests to have me in that role either. xx

Thanks Chris. The hospital insisted I had to do it due to being the eldest child. They wouldn’t take No for an answer and didn’t explain to me that I had the right to nominate someone else. Which caused much distress as you can imagine. But I’ve nominated sister & she has agreed to do it… for now! 🫣

Thanks, yes, I might actually get some proper sleep tonight!

😊 xx

I’ve nominated someone else to do the ‘nearest relative’ thing, and I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted from me. xx
November 13, 2025 at 10:14 PM
Thank you. Feeling a lot better this evening, having nominated someone else to be the legal ‘nearest relative.’ It would’ve been a terrible burden.
November 13, 2025 at 10:13 PM
Thank you. Let’s just say I was very washed out and emotional after that phone call! xx
November 13, 2025 at 10:12 PM
Thanks for the signpost. I had no idea about any of this sort of thing but have read up a bit and have nominated someone else as the NR. It was completely inappropriate to insist I do it. xx
November 13, 2025 at 10:12 PM
Thank you each. xx
November 13, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Thanks. No, they didn’t! But I’ve done that now. xx
November 13, 2025 at 10:10 PM
As a former cancer patient myself, sending hugs. xx

At least they’re actually sectioning her, by the sound of it, this time. But what an absolute farce the system is.
