Wishing everyone everywhere peace and inspiration. Come what may, let us stand strong for all that is right and just. Let us defend those who are being mistreated, and live with kindness and respect as Martin Luther King hoped we would . Our task is clear. ❤️

Can’t afford eggs…that’s weird.
Seems like there's some kind of disconnect here. 🤨

whenever vs. when? Linguists cite “eighteenth-century Ulster migrants mainly of Scottish heritage as the most likely trans-Atlantic source” of the usage in America (Journal of English Linguistics, September 2001).' #langsky #lingsky #linguistics

📌I really don't know how anybody with a shred of respect for themselves or our country is attending the inauguration of a ghastly slob who spearheaded an attempted coup, and lies as he speaks.
Which I suppose is exactly why Michelle Obama isn't ...
Thank God somebody is walking the walk.

Today in history, 1964. Panamanian students protest when the U.S. flag is raised over a high school in the Canal Zone. Twenty-five people were killed in the ensuing violence. The event played a key role in the transfer of the Canal Zone to Panama in 1977. /1

We are asking Ukrainians to defeat the armies of Putin and Kim Jong Un. In their efforts to do so, Ukrainians helped bring down Assad. Ukrainian resistance is one of the most stunning military achievements in modern history.

California, a state of nearly 40,000,000 people, has the same amount of representation in the United States Senate as Wyoming, a state of less than 600,000 people.

This is the direct result of a deal struck between slave states and free states in the 1700s.

It’s time for that to change.

On our first trip to Costa Rica in 2012 we collected some beautiful shells, which were confiscated at the airport. I didn't realize it was important to leave shells on the beach. Now, AI is being used to identify whether shells are from the Caribbean or Pacific coast & return them to the beaches.

A lovely good news story amongst all the doom and gloom (and an excellent piece of travel writing to boot).
Not a fan of Paris but this definitely has me wanting to go back. Perhaps a day trip just to see it might be in order…

125 people die every day in the USA from gun violence. This is not normal for any other country and yet many Americans are resigned to it, saying "this is the world we live in now" - but NO! It's the country you live in, the society you live in, not the world 🌎 it doesn't have to be this way.
At least three people were shot and killed and five others were wounded in a mass shooting in Chicago yesterday.

Every day in America, 125 people are shot and killed. We don't have to live like this.
'Heinously terrible': 3 killed, 5 injured in mass shooting at Chicago home; no arrests made
Three people died and five others were injured after a mass shooting inside a home in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police said.

Rare sighting of a monster truck and its recently-birthed baby truck.
Trucks have been getting bigger, more energy & space consuming, more polluting, and much deadlier to everyone around them including kids. Not because most of us actually need bigger vehicles, but as ego boosts, status symbols & “indicators of male virility.” Note the truck bed is basically the same.
