Fasces, Latince “çubuk demeti” anlamına gelir. Roma’da magistratus’ların, yani yüksek devlet memurlarının otoritesini simgelerdi. Bir balta sapına sıkıca bağlanmış çubuklardan oluşurdu ve lictōr adı verilen görevliler tarafından taşınırdı.

Fasces means “a bundle of rods” in Latin. In Rome, it symbolized the authority of the magistratus, the high-ranking state officials. It consisted of rods tightly bound around an axe handle and was carried by officials called lictors.

This is one of the inscriptions displayed in the garden of the Istanbul Archaeology Museums. It was brought here from the ancient city of Iasos. If you look closely, I am pointing out the word ΝΙΚΗ (Nike), which means “Victory.” Following this word, +++
