I am, above all, dedicated to the great expenditure of time and effort in pursuit of laziness.
Finally got these sandwiches running on Windows 11

The classic of the genre, from the British Daily Star:

On the left is a picture of, and a leering caption about, the 15 year old singer Charlotte Church

On the right, fire and brimstone about the perverts behind Brass Eye, and the "Paedogeddon" episode* corrupting the nation...

Stop scolling and post two characters that bring you happiness.

Not so much Damascene conversion as "Damn, I seen a lot of news presenters are getting fired. I should triangulate a bit and I'll be in a secure berth at CNN by Christmas".

I can't help but think this new Operation Gladio isn't even trying with the cover names

Back from NIN. I know there's all kinds of valid-ish critiques you can level at them but they fucking rock live and Trent is a 12/10 frontman. Also, maybe the last of the black clad sad bois everyone liked in the nineties who might not be a complete piece of shit.

We got a stock Sammy "This particular violence is wrong, but a slightly different kind might well be right, and think about the real victims here: the perpetrators who have been forced to do this" response.

If you see this, post a monster

Anyway. I won this wee Gretsch. Tis very nice, and seems very capably put together. Might not be for me, though

Imagine being handed a branding penalty kick like this and just thinking "No, actually, we will not acknowledge that this is funny. We will look like every other estate agents' office in the world".

I'd have the office looking like a fucking spaceship

The 2008 crash happened because bankers knowingly created scammy bullshit to make bad investments more attractive, and at the first sign of the scam untangling, it all detonated. But they all knew it was bullshit. Every single one of them. And they did not fucking care.

Picture is unrelated

This one from the Irish edition is absolute perfection

(For the uninitiated: Tiocfaidh is an Irish word meaning "will come", commonly associated with the (grammatically suspect) republican slogan "Tiocfaidh Ar La". It is pronounced something closer to "Chucky")

In playable and wired up condition now. Had to shave another mill out rom under the bridge, extensively cut down the bridge pickup ring to clear the strings, and turn that truss rod a good five full turns. But it works now. Mostly.
January 27, 2025 at 10:04 PM
That truss rod nut there. Is it any of the Gibson standard sizes? Martin? I have no idea, but right now it works just fine with my 9mm Halfords ring spanner I hit a few times with a lump hammer. Turns smoothly and works rather well. This is good because there was a *lot* of relief.
January 27, 2025 at 9:58 PM
Here, you see my very advanced lateral alignment job for the bridge. For those shouting "it's just two bits of string: fuck you, it's one bit of string and a knot, and it works. It works too well. As the position of the bridge pickup will tell you.

Can confirm the Ents were on the march last night, though this lad clearly had a few pints along the way.

A touch of sandpaper, steel wool and a dip and a dab later...

It's not great yet, but it should disappear with more oiling and buffing.
January 17, 2025 at 5:23 PM
The same issue of top and back radius precludes power tools here, so I'll be relying on my nerves and an extremely sharp one inch chisel. I'm shite with chisels, but bloody handy with a sharpening stone

Dry fit, but cream does appear to have been the correct choice. I did spend *ages*; trying to find rings from/for the old Ibanez S-series, kinda shallow and oblong, but they never emerged at anything resembling a price I would pay
January 16, 2025 at 4:06 PM
After that, I'll just build up coats of danish oil on top. It gives a bit of grain popping/cerused effect and it disappears under your arm. Hardware, electrics and setup to go!
January 15, 2025 at 7:01 PM
So I've skipped a wee photo or two here because who the fuck needs another gobshite sanding a guitar on the internet? Anyway. The finish is off the front, which is fine as it wasn't exactly pretty and felt unpleasant under the arm. Plug is super solid, sanded and blended. Onward?
January 14, 2025 at 6:07 PM
IRL, believe it or not. This is supposed to be a warning that police informants will be shot.
January 14, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Right. It's in. Plug was, if anything, too tight, so took a bit of refinement so glue could actually get round it.

Now, I'll be trimming this flush, and covering it with a bridge, so my clamping solution is

*Two big fucking wood screws holding it tight*
