Can anyone please advise about the JCQ rules on readers and separate rooms? My small cohort of 8 GCSE resit students are all in the same room today, even though one student has a reader. Exam Officer says is the JCQ guidance, but it seems unfair to the others that they aren't afforded silence

In #mathstoday I'll be teaching the roots of unity to my Y13 furthers. It always makes me think of a 1970s prog rock band 🤣

I've spent some time today sorting out letter tiles ready to assign values to each one (like Scrabble) so we have a very clear non normally distributed population from which we sample. We can then calculate the mean score of our samples and do a Central Limit Theorem experiment for #mathstoday

I just want to give a massive personal thank you to you, @coachbennett.bsky.social At the end of Aug I decided to start running. I'm 51 and very overweight, but felt like I could give it a go. You sir, have coached and motivated me to run local 5k parkruns, 45 mins long runs and today a Fartlek! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

In #mathstoday me and my Y13 FM students did a fun tarsia puzzle from @susanwhitehouse.bsky.social on De Moivre's theorem 😁
Quality resources as ever from Susan ✅

We're about to start our interrail adventure. What a better place to start than here. The George Stephenson statue outside of the station in the town where he is buried 🚂

Really good to see opposition players, ALL fans, officials, everyone applauding 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Touching moment on 58 minutes as the whole stadium applauded Chesterfield owner Phil Kirk, who has recently been diagnosed with inoperable cancer. #Spireites.

@jrub.bsky.social I am so grateful you posted about this book. I'm using it today for the 1st time! My plan is to infiltrate the regular exercises with a few of these everywhere I can. #mathstoday should bring a smile to some faces

I want this book 😍

Help needed please. I'm looking for as much WJEC Higher GCSE maths revision materials as possible. I have the past papers, except 2024, but very little else. I have loads of Pearson / OCR / AQA which is fine, but if there exists a pool of revision resources specifically for the Welsh board, msg me

In #mathstoday my Y12s matched up an equation to its graph & its derivative and the graph of its derivative. I know the derivatives should have been called dy/dx, but then I'd need to make my graph axis says the same! Anyway, the point was to identify "key features" between the 2 graphs.

In #mathstoday I got the opportunity to use my favourite pair of compasses! BTW, I am yet to find any school compasses that are not utterly rubbish. Feel free to convince me otherwise

I've started the topic of differentiation in #mathstoday with my Y12 class. The pun works for our local dialect, but I understand it might not translate widely 🤣

In #mathstoday I finally got to use my little cars to demonstrate connected particles, friction, horizontal motion and tension 😍

To start your 2025 I suggest watching the amazing Irish artist CMAT singing Without You. Probably the best version I've ever heard. youtu.be/G0DTzK8eDdk

I went to bed before CMAT's last song. I've just watched it on the iPlayer and OMG!!!! Absolutely incredible voice. 😲
Ok. CMAT won the Hootenany.

And in tuition #mathstoday, we recapped a bit of Y12 stats as a quick starter. It's important not to neglect some of the "easier" topics

It might be getting close to Xmas, but we're doing practice papers in #mathstoday

In #mathstoday I did work with parametric equations. Loads of scope for wider content revision here. Differentiating trig, using trig identities, working neatly and logically, considering relevant values... It's a great topic to hang other skills off

Love this
Solving constant acceleration problems via area of v-t graph. I have had enough slander of trapezoids as a useful shape, so I had to demonstrate that rectangles and triangles are just special cases of trapezoids

I always like to sleep on a result before commenting. Yesterday was a polar opposite performance to Tuesday night. Should of had 4/5 maybe even 6. Good performance! Let’s take that attitude into Tuesday night but more importantly; Carlisle (A)!

How this didn't go in the net is beyond me. Even the wind blowing in that direction could make it go in. 🤷🏻
72’: OFF THE WOODWORK AGAIN!

A trademark dazzling Dilan Markanday run sees the winger wriggle free in the box, only for his cross to hit a Tranmere man, then the post, then run across the face of goal, before eventually being cleared to safety.
