Someone else I spoke to shared their experience of being berated by an eye clinic receptionist for bringing their mum to the appt when she'd had a continence accident in the taxi there.

My partner's PhD supervisor once said to them, "the only people who remember you did the overtime are your family". That's always stuck with me.

I don't know if this person has tenure (dangerous to assume Aussie profs do these days) but honestly let us poor EMCR schmucks celebrate having 2 years of a job to try & do something cool, please... We know. We get it. We've been there. We live it. Plus I like seeing people I care about doing well!

I remember a colleague (now a prof, wasn't back then) getting abuse over Twitter DMs for daring to mention she was an NHMRC reviewer, implying she had received funding. I just think this is not a good direction to go in? Academia is toxic enough, do we need to take this stuff over from Twitter?

It wasn't a comment on that, it was about needing a track record to submit one to a journal.
