I have released my Facebook endorsements for 2025.
Minneapolis elections are next Tuesday. Not sure if anyone comes here for election advice at this point, but I wanted to share because I think it's important. There's a nasty alliance in this city of developers, big business, cops, and republican money that have found a willing ally in centrist democrats like Jacob Frey to prevent any change. Sending them packing is incredibly important to our city's future. Mayor: You get to rank three candidates. I will be voting: 1. Omar Fateh 2. Dewayne Davis 3. Jazz Hampton I've known Omar for some years now and find him to be incredibly earnest and warm hearted. He loves this city and the people in it. He is also the closest to my political views. I do not know Dewayne Davis but have been impressed by his campaign, his presence, and his cooperation. Jazz Hampton is significantly more moderate than a candidate I would typically vote for, but ranking all three of these candidates is important. Jacob Frey is a petty political operator who time and again has sided with the most conservative forces in our city to shield them from accountability. His homeless encampment policies are inhumane and disgusting. He has been an obstacle to police reform and accountability. He has vetoed a labor standards board and is an opponent of rent control. Rather than view the city council as a legitimate political body, he has used unaccountable commissions to give himself more direct power over the city, all the while blaming the council for all of his policy failures. Vote him out. Ward 1: Elliot Payne He's great. Wonderful constituent services, always out in the neighborhood. Progressive and very thoughtful. Not as much of a firebrand as my typical politician, but any time I've had a question, he's explained his position with great detail and humility. Return him to office. BET: Steve Brandt and Eric Harris-Bernstein These two candidates are good. There jobs are probably very boring. The third candidate is not serious and should be kept away from office, so vote for these two. Parks & Rec District 1: Dan Englehart Dan is my neighbor. I've known him for years. He will be a pro-labor voice on the park board. The park board is a political position and the people who tell you it's not believe that the status quo is not a political choice -- they are lying to you. Parks & Rec At Large: Michael Wilson, Adam Schneider, Amber Frederick Michael and Adam are DSA endorsed. Amber also seems quite qualified and I know has the support of others I trust.
