I’m asking about the word “remnant” how is it a “remnant” if the storm still met typhoon/hurricane/cyclone criteria.

If the storm had hurricane-strength winds, hurricane-sized storm surge, and hurricane-level pressure… why aren’t we calling it a hurricane? This sounds like a very active typhoon, not a remnant, based on how I believe we rank storms. What am i missing here?
