Slow stitch as meditation... I'm rediscovering the tranquility of sitting and slowly adding hundreds of tiny stitches over scraps of fabric. For a couple of years I just lost the desire to do it, suddenly it feels right again. Onwards...x

First 'circuit' for a month, there are significant changes, bracken almost my height, elderflowers, dog roses. It feels like summer, albeit a chilly one. Simple pleasures...x

I've been away for 3 weeks - apparently, that's exactly how long it takes for nature to reclaim the garden.... now deciding whether to go in with the tools, or declare it a wildlife haven....x

The view from the bench in the churchyard this morning... considerable improvement on the last visit on Wednesday. Good to be soaking up the spring sunshine, even if you still need a coat and scarf...x

I went back to this piece again this afternoon. Sometimes, I feel that I know exactly where I'm going, other times, it's far less defined. I was on the brink of overpainting, then decided not to. I really want to feel spring-like, perhaps that's why it stayed. It's fun making art (also frustrating).

Ever wish you could sit in a reclining seat to have a long and proper look at the stained glass windows? I find them mesmerising, but it makes my neck ache...x
Lincoln cathedral from a couple of weeks ago..

I can't wait to visit. Back in the day when I lived nearer, it was inaccessible. Something to enjoy when the weather improves...x
Revisiting Wigmore Castle today. Photo across the eponymous moor from a visit earlier this year. The depth of history in this place is literally enormous. Accrual of earth and debris up to 8m in places.

I sometimes wonder what these medieval artists were on, I wonder if I'm growing any in the back garden... Happy Easter...x

✨Henry III was baptised in this font and it is still in use today.
I'm over in Winchester today and I'll definitely be visiting the mid C12th Tournai marble font at the cathedral which is beautifully carved. The font depicts scenes from the Miracles of St Nicholas.

I'm always fascinated by the thought of who the artists were who created these carved images, what was their life experience, it's a kind of time-travel...x
Remarkable survival at St. Mary's, Wirksworth, Derbyshire - carved around 800AD - Simon Jenkins says: 'The figures could hardly be more primitive, moor aloof from the Saxon tradition, yet they radiate life.'
