3/ It is unclear which agent fired the initial shot, shortly before Pretti’s body went limp. They were reporting to Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino as part of “Operation Metro Surge.”

2/ DHS has said both agents involved in the altercation have been placed on leave. Neither Ochoa nor Gutierrez responded to multiple attempts for comment. DHS, DOJ and FBI did not respond to questions.
