These companies are the greatest “welfare queens” of all. The government indirectly subsidizes their profits through the assistance programs their lowest-paid employees are forced to use. Pay your workers a living wage.
Someone should be able to apply to a place like Walmart or Target, work full-time, and be able to provide for themselves with that paycheck alone.
That’s not radical, it’s rational.

I just don’t understand how means-testing became endemic in American government. Why isn’t being a living human being enough to merit basic care and support? This is what taxpayer dollars should be used for. A rising tide lifts all boats…
