Having your life saved by the Canadian healthcare system, while some of your friends don't even have a GP, is the weirdest feeling of privilege/ guilt.
Every Canadian deserves a family doctor of their own.
I wish politicians would focus on this as an actual priority.
Maybe that could ease my guilt

Really hope Canada sends some troops to Greenland in solidarity with Greenland, Denmark, etc.

The unfortunate reality is that Canada may find ourselves in similar need for protection from NATO allies. We should be full throated in support of NATO

What actions are the government taking to drastically expand our reserve forces, and equip a surge in military size?

I hope CAF been stockpiling artillery shells, etc

Cause it’s really looking more and more like we’re gonna be dealing with an expansionist and fascist US.

Would love to see Pivot bring on some AI skeptics - the prof G related pods are all swinging waaaay too far into being overly optimistic about AI. Would love to see this balanced out a bit with the “other side” saying their piece

So the Obama admin’s assessment found that US strikes on Iran would delay their nuclear program by 12-18 months

This is why they went the diplomacy route - trying to develop a more durable and lasting solution

Why the hell are we inviting Modi to the G7? His government killed a Canadian citizen on our soil, and we’re just inviting him over for tea?

What the hell is this brand of foreign policy?

@en.ottawa.ca I won’t believe you are taking the housing crisis seriously until I see development and density popping up around the LRT station at Moodie drive.

Millions of dollars for that station, and we don’t even upzone the nearby Crystal Bay neighborhood

Congrats on the win

Things I wanna see as a 30 year old in your riding
- Build Canada Homes actually making a difference
- Maybe cool it on the gun buyback - I don’t think it accomplishes much, and it is too divisive

Waking up in the Carleton riding and seeing that we didn’t elect Pierre Poilievre is just a great feeling

There was an option to do something hilarious, and we did it

Proud of my rural Ottawa neighbours

No amount of intellectualizing will allow Oren Cass to sidestep the fact that

- the Trump admin is tariffing unpopulated island
- they are tariffing items like Aluminum that just cannot be simply on-shored
- he looks like Millhouse
- they are tariffing Ukraine but not Russia

Get fucked, Oren

If I ever wanna feel especially hopeless I peruse the Ontario government tracker on housing supply, showing that the overwhelming majority of municipalities are falling well short of the already insufficiently bold target set.

Tracking housing supply progress
Find out how many new homes have been started toward Ontario’s housing goals.

The support for Canada on the pod a few weeks ago was really appreciated

Pretty surreal having our biggest ally turn on us, so having people articulate how important the relationship has been, on both sides of the border, is nice to see

As a Canadian, it feels really weird going into a trade war with the US.

Just generations of working together, building together fighting alongside each in multiple wars - thrown out by electing a fascist in a diaper

Just a sad state of affairs

Looking at Doug Ford calling an election in Ontario - it feels like we’ve collectively taught politicians a bad lesson, made it bad to be in power for a crisis

Post pandemic, incumbents everywhere lost

Now, if I’m leader and a crisis emerges, I’m dissolving gov and running ads for my competitor

I unironically think that companies shouldn’t be allowed to say “due to a higher than normal call volume” in a recording every single day.

It’s not “higher than normal” - tell it like it is.

For around a year I had dangerously low platelets and was on high dose steroids

Had to get bloodwork often - where I’d get it done and find out afterwards:

a) whether they had dropped again and needed a change in treatment

b) based on A, when I needed to check again

Getting a mammogram as a 25 year old male is a.... humbling experience.

Having one nurse pushing you into the machine, hands on your back and her legs up on the back wall, while the other nurse turns the dial, is a memory I'll never be rid of.

So… I guess YouTube is doing that recap thing again.

I can hear Bernie Sanders saying: “0.2% of our population consumes 21x as much content as the average person”

Thanks for the year of content Skill Up and team!

Can someone explain to me why Canada Post has a mandate to “operate on a self sustaining financial basis”

Services like Canada Post enable me to send a letter to Iqaluit for $1.30

I dunno how we expect them to do that while also being self sustaining

Goddamn, does it ever feel good to (temporarily) be on a network where some people are discussing Canada without legions of Russian bots sowing division and spreading unhinged conspiracy theories.

We may have our issues, but Canada is still an amazing place to call home.

In the gentlest way, I was surprised to hear someone who has covered Musk extensively seem to go along with the idea that he’s doing what he does to save humanity

That always, and especially now, felt like a poorly constructed veneer of self serving framing
