Interesting piece on translating the @britishlibrary.bsky.social archives: "Fallāḥ is originally an Arabic word but British colonial officials used it disparagingly… A back-translation would misrepresent its usage in the colonial files, introducing a positive or neutral tone" cutt.ly/TLwinter24

Well that was a fascinating short article and podcast on the history of the Welsh language.

My grandad was from Cardiff - and Welsh always felt ancient and magical to me, so I loved this. The podcast starts with a great bit about some ancient Welsh laws that were written down at the time!

I love this definition of translation by Daniel Hahn, from his book Catching Fire - A Translation Diary:

I highly recommend this book to all translators (and to anyone who thinks AI can replace translators).
