We went back to training to be unfamiliar people and dogs for Canine Good Citizen training.

And SURPRISE! The trainer opted to use Magnus for the ‘passing an unfamiliar dog’ part of the test.

And he was absolutely perfect in class, and I am so so proud of him.

Ahahahahha my glass supplies have been found!

They were buried in a closet at the back with a whole bunch of other stuff piled in front.

Now the issue is, where in the house is a safe place where dogs won’t risk shards in paws.

The relief of a large project moving from you into the next phase is something.

I am exhausted, but other than minor revisions once it’s through proofing? It’s done.

3 weeks.

Last year it took 3 months.

Actually decided to be a “good photographer” and charged the big camera and dug out the tripod just in case round 2 of the Aurora shows up tonight.

Forecast suggests it might, and it’ll be a test of the big camera since I haven’t attempted any moon/stars/sky photography with it yet.

My neighbor text me like “hey! The Aurora is outside!” And sent me a photo, so I went out in the back yard in 26°F and froze my butt off… I could See them without the camera!!

I’m super far south so… this made my night!

I spent all night last night rendering some rocks on a ridiculously large canvas in Procreate because apparently that is what my artbrain has deemed it wants to do.

Art Burnout is weird.

Ugh. :/

Even after only what? 3 days of food switch and removal of all corn and chicken (and other poultry because why not) from Magnus’ diet, the change is noticeable.

All treats with offending ingredients have been donated, just so he doesn’t get into them, or someone accidentally gives him one.

I did a stupid with my stretched lobes and I am paying for it.

Forgot to put in my plugs for days (I take them out to sleep), because bad brain and so busy…

The closed up a size, which they have NEVER done before and I’ve been at my current size for 3 years… (4 gauge- so not huge)

Nothing like taking your dog to the vet for an injury and some itchiness and your vet going “so the food you switched him to for weight loss? He has classic signs of sensitivities, get him off it asap.”

The suspect right now? Corn or chicken.

Today summed up in one image…

Pondering art and getting out the wood burning machine. Desire to make things is high…

Or is the blank canvas paralysis going to strike again.

Both Magnus and Ruby passed their training class with flying colors.

We’ll be doing the intermediate/advanced training class that starts next year.

Ruby may go on to Canine Good Citizen training.

Last day of training class is tomorrow.

Midweek we got a surprise addition to the homework to teach our dogs a basic trick that isn’t “paw/shake.”

It’s been a rough week and that kind of tipped me over the edge.

Thursday, couldn’t get him to do anything. Basics, leash, tricks nothing.

Want to draw, have the itch to draw, and I’m paralyzed by the white canvas.

Great. Thanks brain.

I hate trying to navigate the dog kibble world.

Found out that the brand of food Magnus was on was bought by a different company… and apparently it’s now like feeding him junk food.

Which explains the reason why I can’t get him to lose a couple of pounds despite the fact he’s getting

I’ve done nothing but yell about my dogs for most of this year… so photo tax is required.

As you can see, both dogs are now pretty close to being a unit. Ruby likes to mother Magnus when he’ll let her, and she gives him big boy confidence.

Magnus was much better at training today. We also all went together in the same car (a first!), and because he was so good, both Ruby and Magnus got pup cups from our local coffee shop when we headed home.

Woo!

Given where Ruby came from and what the rescue told us, I’ve been deep diving into “doodle breeding” and while I didnt like the idea before…

I really really really am 100% against doodles and designer mixes now.

If you want a doodle- get a poodle.
Poodles are awesome dogs.

Dreading the upcoming dog training class this weekend.

He was fantastic during training sessions earlier in the week, tonight he was an absolute disaster. Hoping tonight was just a bad night.

I think he’s getting frustrated since he already knows this stuff and is bored.

When you pick up your Apple Pencil/ipad for the first time in MONTHS, and you actually sketch something decent that could become actual art?

“Is this a fluke?”
October 8, 2025 at 12:46 AM
Back to organizing beads and getting them out of bags.

Ruby is doing great at training.
Magnus hates it and can’t focus at all because he’s out of his comfort zone and jumping between fear and protect mode. Suddenly all new dogs are a problem (this is new- he’s usually social as all get out).

Preparing for a deep dive into a layout file wondering why all the linked pieces don’t show art, despite being set to do so, and trying to figure out if it is as simple as the visibility settings are incorrect or not…

Praying to the Graphic Design Gods it’s the simple easy fix.

Ya know how incredibly infuriating it is to be working on a project all day and the spec server is fine, then at 4 pm on the dot, suddenly nothing is fine and I’m getting network connection errors from the VPN.

I can’t decide if it’s the server’s internet, a vpn issue, or something else entirely.
