A part of me suspects that they had him play Mamdani toned down bc there was some mild Twitter backlash for Sarah’s piece in the first ep. This seems more skeptical of his promises but falls into the same problem they had with Obamas admin. I doubt Emil would have played it the way Ramy would 🧵
I guess it tells you how little interest the show had in Emil that they let him go when he could have done well as Mamdani. Ramy Youssef was fine but lacking the charisma to play him. (I am tired so initially thought that was Jane Wickline in drag). #SNL

I have a bad feeling about the Sombr performance now. It’s one thing to do the VMAs; but these shticks in front of a small SNL audience is not doable and only will come off as cringe live. So all he has is his music which is on the positive side will be passable www.thecut.com/article/somb...

This is a very important lesson; one I hope the show learns. I'm sensing she may be thrown in the way Wiig was - when the show had a stronger female cast than it does now - and that won't be good for her or the show. She deserves strong and focused writing, not being used as a Band-Aid.
If Ashley Padilla is the power player I hope she is/becomes #SNL in the years to come...then she will not be "taking over" the show. The greats that she's brought to my mind - Gasteyer, Hooks, Curtin - didn't "take over" SNL and weren't about that, they were too good as actors for that.

4/5 If you are interested in standup-comedy and know a fair amount about it it’s a strong satire bc you can recognize all the character archetypes. One really fault is that it’s obvious in some places that “comedy” isn’t exactly the authors main interest& that some things did get lost in translation

Now with Glen Powell hosting I wonder if we are going to see a bigger presence of Martin Herlihys writing/Ben Marshall in sketches due to this connection
I choose to believe that Lorne Micheals, also oddly enough, put PDD through The Running Man game to see who would leave/stay as a writer/get elevated to cast
