4/5 If you are interested in standup-comedy and know a fair amount about it it’s a strong satire bc you can recognize all the character archetypes. One really fault is that it’s obvious in some places that “comedy” isn’t exactly the authors main interest& that some things did get lost in translation

Interesting but of lore of Padilla . And in truth I can see a bit of Diane Keaton in the way Ashley went about her comedic performances

I choose to believe that Lorne Micheals, also oddly enough, put PDD through The Running Man game to see who would leave/stay as a writer/get elevated to cast

Also Claire has written for a fairly popular party-style video games. Again some good diversifying in terms of the type of comedy Gen Z lean towards (in this case watching video game streams) and perhaps some decent game show sketches in the future

Taking a moment to give a boost to @classicshowbiz.bsky.social for his book. Got it from the library before the Kimmel stuff happened, and read it as it was going right until the end of it all. It was written in 2023 but still very relevant to what’s been happening this year in comedy

The logical part of me knows that Andy Richter will be out week one Dancing With The Stars; bc of the bias against comics, but a part of me really hopes he gets at least to week five

The sirens call of the status of Farley biopic movie came to me recently and I had to check so see if there was ANY update on it. It feels like it’ll be stuck in one of those Script Black Lists/ developmental hell cycles and then PWH will have badly aged out of the role so they need to recast it

Akyroyd seems really into the graphic novel he helped out on. I hope they do more promotion for it outside of the cons

This may be too many yrs of Jewish schooling in my head. But I have assumed that the new Jor-El philosophy is based on some Bible verses (which perhaps intentionally is used as antisemitic assumptions against Jews-mirroring the public’s reaction to Superman) & perhaps a nod to the OG writers roots

Between this and his obsession with Superman; I’m convinced there as some deep seeded desire to do art instead of going into business that his KKK father broke his spirit on and focused on power instead… (stop me if you’ve heard this story before about another failed evil artist)
