Political violence is always immoral and always counterproductive for a healthy democracy. It solves nothing. It only leads to further violence and ultimately enables scapegoating of vulnerable communities. Committing acts of violence against those who disagree with us helps no one.

Our lack of humanity is staggering
We asked people who lived in homeless encampments that were cleared out in city “sweeps” to write about what object was the hardest for them to lose.

“They took my baby pictures and my moms obituaries,” a 29-year-old in California wrote.
“I Have Lost Everything”: The Toll of Cities’ Homeless Sweeps
Cities often take belongings — including important documents and irreplaceable mementos — when they conduct sweeps of homeless encampments. ProPublica gave notecards to people across the country so…

American civil society is full of abject cowards, that is the issue. The government is a mafia state but it is winning because most American elite institutions are devoid of anything resembling integrity and are folding rather than stand on principles that were little more than marketing.

I hope a long list of prominent clients "fire" Paul, Weiss, and make a very public point of moving to a different law firm.
Trump rescinds his Executive Order targeting Paul, Weiss because the firm entered into an “agreement” with Trump.

According to the White House, Trump agreed to rescind after a meeting w/ Paul Weiss chairman Brad Karp, in which Karp “acknowledged the wrongdoing” of former partner Mark Pomerantz.

Dark hearts, selfishness and cruelty are where we are. I'm ashamed to be an American. Until the citizenry arises en masse, I will continue to do what I've always done my whole legal career - stand up for the poor and oppressed, and show up when called upon by my various communities w/shared values.

I think a lot of old power has become so deeply entrenched that it doesn’t think about who supports it any longer, and I think that’s all beginning to crumble.

Make your calls. Go to your town halls. Ask your state and local officials what they are doing under state and local law. Rest. Hydrate. Make soup for the hungry. Don’t let people tell you that you’re doing it wrong. Not a sprint. Not a marathon. A relay. Find your team. Thank you.

I almost argued with someone on here about their blame-dealing election takes. Almost. I have opinions about the election too. Strong ones. And you know what? It doesn’t fucking matter. Look around. Pointless division is a death trap. *That discourse* is a death trap. It’s collective survival time.
