It wasn’t pure cope tbh, the site seemed like a fucking disaster. disabling 2FA, making checkmarks bought, having to rapidly remake the checkmark system again, etc.
Plus the site sucks now since everyone is either a bot or posts like a bot to get Twitter bucks

in fairness I'm not sure how much control game reviewers get over the games they review, and for most the industry doesn't pay enough to be picky. but those reviews are brutal
