I've always felt that to truly play the game you have to be the one pressing the buttons. The interactivity of video games makes everyone's playthrough personal. Would you have noticed that attack pattern as quickly as the person you watched play it? Or found that item, or solved that puzzle?

The interactivity available though the story of a video game provides a level of immersion that is otherwise impossible -- but 95% of games do not utilize this, or do so very poorly. I think the story in God of War is very good but I think it does a poor job of immersing you in it, for example.

I can never decide if I think video games are art or not. Like some obviously are but there's a lot of slop out there. Maybe they're all art but not all artful? Does something have to be intentional to be meaningful or does someone finding beauty in the yearly call of duty game carry the same weight
