There’s a buzz around MCF-Red Wing, thanks to the bees and impactful environmental news. The facility’s Walter Maginnis High School earned Green Flag Certification from the National Wildlife Federation – becoming the first and only juvenile justice school in the U.S. to receive the honor. (1/4)

The MN DOC has implemented an electronic visiting application system at all adult facilities. The new system replaces one in which visitors were required to submit their applications using the U.S. postal service. Learn more about the new system: mn.gov/doc/about/ne...

Joyful cheers spread throughout the audience at MCF-Lino Lakes during a recent celebration of academic achievements. High school diplomas and GEDs were granted to 45 students and another 19 individuals earned Cable Network Technician certificates. (1/3)

MCF-St Cloud recently hosted its first poetry and fiction reading event for students involved with the Minnesota Prison Writers Workshop. Eleven students read their own works, ranging from poems to short prose pieces, to a packed auditorium Tuesday, July 15. (1/2)

Today, we honor our fallen brother Joseph Gomm who gave his life in service to our state on July 18, 2018. It is the seventh anniversary of Gomm’s passing. Joe will be remembered as a kind soul and a good friend who did his job with honor. (1/2)

The opioid epidemic is a public health crisis that has impacted communities across the country. The MN DOC is helping combat the crisis by increasing access to substance use disorder treatment for incarcerated persons and expanding the availability of overdose-reversing drugs such as Narcan. (1/3)
