a sad byproduct of this is that people find themselves falling into pessimistic/nihilistic ideology that tells them only people like them can truly empathize with their struggle, the solidarity between various social groups is already so fickle and the additional pressure doesn’t help
I can't help but notice that as trans acceptance backslides that casual allyship amonst cis people, even those that claim allyship loudly, is down noticeably.
A few years ago, cis strangers would defend my pronouns, now it's back to mostly close friends, mostly queer people.

1 Experience on a platform depends far more on who you interact with there than on the platform overall.
2 The experience you get on academic adjacent Bluesky is not a good fit for everyone.
