Let me be very clear - transparent and rigorous science is not possible under the current administration. Part of the "gold standard" of health research is including a diverse study population - biology is not "one size fits all"!

Had a wonderful time discussing everyone's efforts to better our understanding of precancer biology! See you again, Baltimore!

Roundtable this Wed at the US Senate, on how Trump and Musk are killing research like cancer and Alzheimer’s research.

2:30pm Eastern. There is a livestream.

This would be better in primetime and produced for TV, like the Jan 6 Committee did.
But it’s a good start from @baldwin.senate.gov.

We'd love to hear from you!!!
One of my reasons? Science helps me balance my brain chemistry so I can study how colon cancer interacts with neighboring healthy tissue, and figure out better ways to kill the cancer without hurting the patient! #storeboughtserotonin #mentalhealthmatters #CRCresearch
WHY DO YOU STAND UP FOR SCIENCE? ☀️

Tell us how science has impacted your life. We’ll share stories with your representatives, from local reps to Capitol Hill—and on our website, so you can use them to advocate too.

This is what we mean when we say cutting NIH funding will cost lives. Cancer patients and their families are having the rug pulled from under them.
A friend drove two hours today for her breast cancer chemotherapy only to learn it was canceled due to NIH cuts. Clinical trial ended midstream. No treatment, no restart, no plan, no information. Her bro-in-law's chemo was also canceled.

#NCI - how is ‘obesity’ controversial in research and now a flagged term? 👇👇👇
The National Cancer Institute (part of NIH) released new guidelines for "controversial, high-profile or sensitive" keywords that require "review prior to publication" if included in a product or materials.

Keywords include abortion, obesity, and peanut allergies.

This administration is anything but committed to creating a Nation free of cancer. The ongoing funding freeze is causing clinical trials to be stopped, and the attack on diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility has made conducting representative studies impossible.

"The White House can lie all they want about how they're not stopping cancer research," the NIH source said, "but they're stopping cancer research on [NIH's] Bethesda campus."

Can confirm. The many shifting rules and EOs and bans do seem designed to stop cancer research at #NIH.
1. The Trump administration has crippled cancer and Alzheimer's research by imposing a freeze on all government credit cards at NIH.

An NIH source with direct knowledge tell Popular Information that scientific research has ground to halt because necessary supplies can no longer be purchased.

Among *many* other things, EDU runs the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP).

I'll say it louder for the folks in the back: Our government is ACTIVELY taking away YOUR ability to access PUBLIC data. This 👏 is 👏 NOT 👏 okay 👏

We are experiencing an assault on science unparalleled by anything I’ve seen in my life. It’s not one issue or another anymore, the entire institution is under attack by the most powerful individuals in the country.
