First, there’s no legal basis for this. Second, a “Real ID” is sufficient for air travel because it requires extra documentation to obtain. Third and again, there’s no legal basis for this. Fourth and most important, this is the “papers please” stage of fascism and the biggest possible red flag.
NEW—Earlier this evening agents from ICE/other fed agencies were outside Rhode Island Ave metro in DC asking people exiting the station for their IDs, per someone who experienced it. When the person presented their Real ID license, an agent said that wasn't sufficient. Luckily they had secondary ID.

This handsome Eared Grebe has been feeding along the Lake Michigan shore in Milwaukee for the last few days. The species is uncommon east of the Mississippi. I also enjoyed watching a pair of Northern Shovelers and several Red-breasted Mergansers.

I do not recall a 24 hour or one week news cycle with more disturbing news about the state of the presidency and the US government in it than those of today and the past seven days.
