two Ms, one German, one American, married, you will figure out who is who somehow… based in Nuremberg, Germany with roots in Florida, USA. Disney, travel, life in Germany with an international background.
I like new cars. I was very into cars in my 20s and 30s. Not so much now. But we’ve literally been looking for either a new car for my mom or a second car for us for 14 months now. At a Volvo dealership for what might be the first time in my life right now.

And the bread 🥖 is for eating, although I will sometimes use it to get any tasty sauce remnants that escaped. I can’t recall a time when in any American Italian restaurant (chain, high end, mom and pop etc) I was not served bread with pasta.

Well, you are a foreigner and all…

Absolutely.

I have no clue. He just needs it as a side. And 95% of the time I forget about it as it’s so foreign for me. He is very easy and will take whatever bread we have in the house (4 day old Mischbrot is ok), but would prefer a crusty (😉 - see other discussion) roll.

Well, my American husband demands that bread should be served with any pasta… supposedly that’s how it is done. It can be exchanged for a salad though. Don’t ask me why and what the logic is, I still haven’t figured it out.

I don’t like it at all. But it’s generally a only main course for children (or adults with poorly developed palates). It’s mostly a side dish in the USA 🇺🇸, certainly on Thanksgiving.

BTW, not commenting on the core concept, which sounds odd at best to me. I believe we saw one of these in Mannheim in August.

Exactly. While you might not want many things to be crusty, pizza 🍕 isn’t one of them. Crust is what can make or break a pizza (we have a pizza joint a few blocks from the German home that has won all sorts of awards, but has soft doughy crust that ruins it for me).

Yeah, I was more referring to Americans who thought they were so savvy by giving up on cable to save big bucks and now are paying more for five different streamers.

Yes, as in the insurance does not kick in until you’ve hit a certain personal out of pocket spend.

There is a nickname for Munich calling it the „Millionendorf“, a play on Millionenstadt, a term for metropolis (literally a city with more than one million inhabitants) and this conveys Munich‘s strange feeling of being provincial and not very well.

How adorable! Happy birthday to both of them!

Also financially it makes more sense. The amount of money you burn when you install number plates on a brand new car is astounding! I guess that‘s why you need good marketing, otherwise no one would buy new cars. 😉

I am not likely to do that anyway even though I agree that passing unwanted things on is a great way to break our culture of a Wegwerfgesellschaft. But my main focus is more to keep retailers alive. I love browsing stores and in order to stay able to do that people need to buy stuff in those shops.
