While chasing two Philippine coast guard ships the Chinese navy destroyer Guilin rammed a Chinese coast guard ship. This resulted in substantial damage to the Chinese ship‘s forecastle, rendering it unseaworthy.
This happened 10.5 nautical miles east of the Scarborough Shoal, West Philippine Sea.

Escalation during a war is normal and not inherently bad. You escalate to win. It would be absolutely appropriate for Ukraine's friends to deliver missiles so Ukraine can escalate and push Russia on the defensive.
