Looks preliminary to say the least, I know, but to me it's beautiful. After trying hard for some time, we learned to take proper polarization resolved measurements of nonlinear optical response of our epitaxial BN films 8-)

It’s about nano-diamonds and detecting small magnetic fields with light. The diamonds are inside an optical fiber. You could imagine placing it at a harbor entrance to detect hostile submerged drones.

Single-slit experiment at home for my fifth-grader. I know this could be generally improved, but this is what comes out with a rough setting up of two razor blades with a masking tape, a ruler and some lego. Must admit that the camera shows this much better than my actual vision.

Coming back to WAW from WRO after a successful phd viva where I was one of the revs. 4h train ride and me happy that I will age less than by 4h owing to general relativity 🤓

Christmas Eve in this house has happened already. Now its about planning walks to get some of that food shaken off 😉 Here’s a photo treat: flour cake dumplings with porcini mushroom filling. Served with red beet clear soup. It’s of specific taste, many say you have to be Polish to enjoy it. I do.

Silica and diamond are incompatible bec. the latter graphitizes >700C. When overcome, this opens Kerr nonlinearity engineering via hybridized carbon atom bonding.
