It’s cause all the societal methods that would’ve held him to account have been co-opted or defanged. The law doesn’t work. News media’s owned by the sort of people the files would probably implicate. Social media is absolutely aware, but is so decentralized and ephemeral that it barely matters.

While it’s not wrong to have enjoyed things made by people as long as you don’t pay, there’s something to be said about attention being its own sort of currency, on a personal and social level.

Most indirectly, there’s the opportunity cost of not engaging with other things that could use support.

The tough part is that talking about said things in a positive light always has the potential of indirectly encouraging people to interact with the things giving bigots money, and in the worst cases, keeping it alive in the public consciousness.

At some point we have to confront that we're not trying to educate an ignorant population about the struggles of queer life and epistemic injustice.

They KNOW, and they want to keep it that way, if not make it worse. We are an affront to their pathetic, rotten societies.

1x sounds glacially slow to me, can’t stand it. (Also use library apps and have not much time to listen during the day, so 1.25x helps me actually finish things)

I was going to include 'how it repeatedly and clearly condones slavery' in the parts they don't like, but let's be honest, they've been renegotiating that one for a long time, and they're *aching* to let it be explicit doctrine again.

The 'submitting unquestioningly to an authority that tells you what to do' is the part they like. The parts they don't like, like 'feed the hungry, clothe the poor, visit the prisoner', are going the way of other parts they don't like, like the bits about shellfish
