Every year I am especially thankful for the strangers who saved my sister's life on Nov. 26, 2002. As she reminds us, "Life is short, so enjoy your family, your friends, your work and play. Hug your kids, kiss your sweetheart, call your parents, send a card to a friend, make a difference."

I'm waiting until after Thanksgiving to put up my own decorations, but it's fun to see some early decor around town. This lobster trap tree is at Round Top Farm in Damariscotta.

Seems like a good day to repost this great sign from 2020.

Saturday was the second time I was able to use the local "party pack" instead of paper plates & napkins for an event. Thanks to all the organizations and companies that helped support this effort.

This misleading ad was in last week's Lincoln County News. To save absentee voting, Mainers need to vote No on 1! Question 1 would make it harder for many people to get absentee ballots.

Ping! I canned seven jars of dilly beans with beautiful green beans from the farm stand.

Once again I am reminded that marrying someone who loves to cook was a good idea. Pasta a la Norma, with fresh eggplant from the farmer's market.

I was worried that Nick had trimmed the blackberry bushes too far back. But it looks like another good harvest this year. Fresh berries for breakfast tomorrow!

I picked up some books a retired LLL Leader was giving away. Good reading to get prepped for World Breastfeeding Week! #WBW2025

Cumston Hall, home of The Theater at Monmouth, is as beautiful as always. And the 90-minute version of Twelfth Night was great fun this afternoon.

Missing my mom today on her birthday. I was lucky to have two great parents. I'm sorry she didn't live long enough to see her 11 grandchildren become the amazing adults they are. She'd be heartbroken, though, to see so many of the feminist causes she fought for still under attack.

"Keep Hope Alive in 2025" was the theme of this morning's Pride and Unity event in Newcastle/Damariscotta. A little rain didn't stop us from celebrating.

This graffiti was painted last night or early this morning on Academy Hill in Newcastle, Maine. No War, No Pigs. No Trump.

A great way to start our 38th wedding anniversary. At the No Kings protest in Wiscasset, Maine.

Wiscasset, Maine. My double-sided sign with your no kings/no dictators got a lot of compliments. Here are a few of the other great signs I saw.

Our old girl is snoring.

On this World Environment Day, here is part of the reason I continue to volunteer my time to support breastfeeding. Human milk is the most sustainable first food for infants. No packaging. No shipping. No waste.

Mother's Day is bittersweet for those of us whose mothers have died, and I know it can be a hard day for many reasons. I remember my mother with love, gratitude, and respect. I got to spend the afternoon with my son and lots of family and got to talk with my daughter last night. A very good day!

It smells as beautiful as it looks. Today's heavy rain will probably take a toll on the petals.

Maybe this year we can attract some orioles. So far only the catbirds are enjoying the oranges.

I do love this time of year. Every year I am grateful for George Cole, who grew up in this house. George and his father loved flowers and fruit trees.

This sign is on Main Street in Newcastle, Maine. I wish it could convince those who still support the president.

Maybe we can put away the snow shovels?

Spring in Maine.

A few little crocuses have appeared, and I also see some daffodil shoots. Just in time for Monday's predicted snow!
