Could be both. The statute required that a reasonable person would have been in fear based on the assault. Since it was clear that defendant was throwing a Subway sandwich, the jury could have concluded that the officer could not have reasonably been in fear.

That is a better statement of the controversy. Mamdani initially stated that he would not ask people to stop using the term “globalize the intifada”, but after meeting with the CEO of Pfizer he changed his position.

He continues to work with people who use that anti-Semitic phrase.

The greatest technical Speaker of my lifetime. Outside of the first try on TARP, she never brought a bill to the floor and have it fail. She often did this with a tiny majority. She moved a lot of meaningful progressive legislation (including Biden’s entire agenda, some of which died in Senate).

A lot of Jews (including me & Brad Lander) were very suspicious after quotes appeared of Mamdani using the phrase “intifada everywhere”, which has been a rallying cry for physical harassment, attacks and even (in case) a double homicide of Jews (without inquiry into views on Israel). Don’t love it.

I hope that he will be Principal Deputy Mayor.

5. Mamdani ran in the bar mitzvah circuit in Morningside Heights and at Bronx Science.

I have concerns about Mamdani’s associations with people that I believe are anti-Semitic (such as Linda Sansour), so I hope he lives up to my hopes and not down to my fears.

The map showed that the Satmar blocks went strongly for Cuomo (with a meaningful Sliwa vote), while rest of Williamsburg was overwhelmingly for Mamdani.
