Democrats are trying to make this shut down about people's healthcare costs. Why aren't they making it about how Trump STILL HAS NO HEALTHCARE PLAN

The budget fight and government shutdown show to me that the President is not interested in helping all Americans - he is only interested in helping himself, and giving to those who are helping him in only the most transactional ways

The perfect encapsulation of Politico.

"Of course the White House is lying, but it's a pretty savvy lie, so let's see how it plays?"

It's all a fun little game with no stakes to them. It's like they're recapping episodes of Real Housewives.
This short passage from a Politico afternoon newsletter captures a huge amount of the advantage gained by lying at scale and the why the DC press corps remains wired for the GOP.

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

How does NYT have the guts to publish a piece about trumps "vision" for the world, quote his advisors who say he doesn't have one, then still publish 1000 words of nonsense pretending he does? He doesn't! Stop pretending that he does! He tells you he doesnt! Listen to him!

Okay, one thing I'm struggling to understand - the Texas grid is a mess. Infamously a mess, leading to people dying in extreme weather.

Why do tech bros think that's the best place to drop the biggest new AI data centers? The infamously power-hungry data centers?

republican policy seems to be that it doesn't matter how many innocents might get hurt as long as the guilty are punished as severely as possible. Anyone opposing them should run on the platform thay the justice system should be used for higher purposes that just retribution.

Why is trump lying about trade negotiations with China? Is he just trying to manifest or something?

Do any of these tariffs apply to any firearms? Could we argue 2nd Amendment to then get rid of the tariffs?

Any republican attacking judges appointed by either party have to be asked the question: did they vote to confirm that judge? Judges don't just magically. They aren't appointed unilaterally. Appointed judges passed through a confirmation process for a reason.

It's interesting to watch the party that claims to want American greatness piss away all the reasons other countries have had to look to the US for anything. The only result will be the total destruction of America's influence and ability to lead on a global stage

If musk gets his way, and the government shuts down, I gotta hand it to him - it will accomplish his goal of reducing government spending.

I just have to point out that the government spending no money at all will lead to the destruction of the US economy, and whatever leadership we have left.

Decided to see if I could buy any of those gambling stock things to bet that Tesla was going to crash even further. Thankfully, my brokerage doesn't let me just up and gamble without getting approved first.

Why don't I ever see people talking about how what is happening at the federal level is going to result in an economic catastrophy? Tens, hundreds of thousands out of work? The GDP shrinking by trillions?

It makes me irrationally angry when I see "X (formerly Twitter)" in places. Either just keep calling it Twitter, or call it that site owned by a nazi. It's been years now.
