Starmer ('s communication people) didn't quite say what the telegraph claim, and he was partially taken out of context - but it was implied that the police shouldn't be wasting their time on it, and that needs explicit correction one way or another.

I really hope they explicitly condemn it, and soon. Letting this stuff hang is just encouraging it.
