City: the traffic on Kenaston is overwhelming.

City: what if more people didn’t get out of their cars on Kenaston?

Good luck and enjoy the (long) day to @emmaewood.bsky.social who gets sworn into office today. You worked hard for this and earned it! An exciting day for the city and for Elmwood-East Kildonan.

Let Emma’s victory to be an encouragement to all the quiet leaders putting in the work of building our community, and a warning to the politically ambitious cynics aiming to tear others down in order to build themselves up. Lobbing culture war bombs and stoking driver grievances won’t cut it.
Yes. @emmaewood.bsky.social did a wildly brave thing in sticking her neck out for all of us, putting herself forward in this climate of vitriol and reaction, and proved that the good person *can* win, and commandingly so. It is worth it to run. (1/)
MY HOPE: that @emmaewood.bsky.social winning while running a positive campaign that had an actual platform gives hope to anyone, but particularly any WOMAN thinking of running next year in #winnipeg

Woke up with sore feet but all well worth it. We poured our hearts into this one and it feels so good to see the result. So proud of the work we did and optimistic about where we are going in our neighborhood and the work Emma will do.

Plus turquoise really was the best of the colours out there.

I’m glad they priced it out if it was solely paid for by debt with a mere $150 million in interest because I have it on very good authority we have exactly that much hidden in the couch cushions at city hall.

Or, you know, we could not spend that money or pay to replace the Arlington Bridge?

I have 0 sphere on here but there is nothing I can think of that is a better use of my summer than helping out @emmaewood.bsky.social any way I can. There is nobody who would do better as our councillor.
Some big personal news: earlier today, I registered as a candidate for Winnipeg city council in the upcoming by-election in Elmwood - East Kildonan! The neighbours, fellow advocates and friends who asked me to run have already hit the ground running!

Throwing up one for the school year. This year I rode all but maybe 15 times, ran a bike to work day pit stop, walked my winter bike to work after a blown tire, and got 15 coworkers to ride in together from East St Paul. Living the dream.
