There’s a lot of great stuff in Your Body Is Not Your Body, but Joe Koch’s story “Chironoplasty” transplanted me into another dimension. Joe is a genius, genuinely one of the best prose writers I’ve ever read.

Lure by Tim McGregor is a sicko book. Honestly can't put it better than the blurb that it's a siege of relentless horror against a backdrop of brine and blood. This luremaid said "fuck them fishermen".

Fucking loved this book. It has a lot to say about colonisation, violence, and the fragility of the male ego and it does it by telling an absolute trip of a story that's an absolute masterclass in tension-building. Also that cover art 🪓

Read This Wretched Valley by Jenny Kiefer recently and, after a traumatising Discord conversation, the real horror of a story about ghosts and paranoia and murder is having the thought "Who is the nominated gurp slurper of this hiking group?"

Agony's Lodestone is probs my favourite Tenebrous Press novella yet, cursed media and fucked Blair Witch vibes. I read The Black Lord before that, which creeped me out in an entirely different way. Read the opening of that book like nope nope nope nope.

Read CROM CRUACH by Valkyrie Loughcrewe yesterday and it's exactly as good as you'd expect a horror novella written in verse dedicated to imprisoned Irish republican socialists and The Devil to be.

DEHISCENT is very fucking good. Gothic eco-horror set in a world after the collapse works so well in the Gothic sense of the weight of the past bearing down on the present, and Ashley Deng really pulls it off.

Enjoyed Eric Raglin's stories in Sick! Stories from the Goop Troop. The one with the god-monster made of confiscated sex toys was a particular highlight haha. Good fun low-brow (complimentary) stories with the vibe of mid-2000s straight to VHS horror anthologies.
