It's been a productive day at the tree nursery as part of our usual weekly Friday volunteer day. The empty sections of the main field beds are being weeded and covered with cardboard over winter, so they are prepared for broadcasting seeds and planting out seedlings in spring.

We will be out doing maintenance on the big tree planting site at Gorpley reservoir this Thursday 6th March. We will be replanting trees and replacing tree stakes where high winds or stray sheep have caused some damage and we would really appreciate some help.

Peatland is a vital ecosystem that forms over 1000's of years and acts as a carbon sink by storing vast amounts of carbon and is also home to many rare plants, insects and birds on the RSPB red list at risk of extinction.
