My match-4 one month project is feature complete! I wanted to add a story mode, network multiplayer, items, abilities, etc... but maybe I can do those in September. The rest of August is for character art and polish.

Very pleased to finish a project for once!

Redid most of the character states (still working on the failure state), added music, added sounds, and generally tweaked and adjusted things. Settings menu is also about halfway coded, since I need to build a UI framework as I go. Steady progress!

There might be a very slight issue with my AI opponent's timing check...

The problem with getting things to the point of being playable is that I keep going to test something and then spend 20 minutes playing it instead.

Lots of backend work done today to support things like menus, game modes, etc. Pleased with how it's coming together.

Good bit of progress today.

I would love some opinions on whether or not this screen shake and variable fall rate looks good, or if it would be too distracting or annoying.

Repost due to busted video.

Four days in on my August project. It's great when things start feeling like an actual game.

Next up, an input handler to control what drops, rotate it, etc. Also need to clean up the board state to avoid weird visual issues across iterations.

More work on lighting... using dithering for the falloff gives a really fun textured vibe I think. Still need to sort out coloured lighting that blends along the edges, and work out why moving a light stops every other light from displaying. Progress...

Tile lighting working at a basic level! Had issues with bake-in initially, but it's doing more or less what I want it to now. Next step is adding the dithered effect to the edges, and maybe animating the alpha to make it look smoother when moving. A shadow shader could be good...

Not dead, but dev time has been limited. I'm doing Art FIght this year too which cuts into free time. Currently fixing rendering issues (which was a one-line fix that took three weeks to solve) and resolving mouse position to world position, so I can add tile/entity interactions.
